Alifa is an organisation from Enschede aimed at social support. They focus on people, from all ages, that need a little bit of help. Alifa supports these people, including refugees, with an integral approach. This includes offering language courses and finding language buddies for refugees: Dutch speakers that help out refugees once a week or so with their Dutch.
Alifa helped organising events with Connecting Hands at the UT in the past. Through our contact with students and the knowledge of Alifa's programs, we set up students as buddies for refugees, to support them with their Dutch.
A part of Alifa's participants are now in the joint football team. Alifa needs language buddies for their participants to help them with their language and that's why we want to make students aware of the programmes Alifa offers in order to find more buddies. Creating awareness across campus and student associations is a big part of it.
More on the Alifa organisation can be found on their website.
