Hi, are you feeling the need to stay in touch with fellow students and maintaining day-to-day conversations and activities? During this period in which most of us are staying home, Discord can be a great way to keep in touch, to undertake activities with others, and maybe also to get to know new people you can hang out with as soon as it is possible to go wherever you want! The University has its Discord channel where all students can make use. How? Find the explanation below.
How to become part of the UT-Discord?
- Go to https://discordapp.com/
- Click ‘Login’ in the upper right corner
- If you do not have an account yet, click ‘Register.’
- Create your account
- In the ‘Get Started’ option, you can create your channel if you want, you can also click ‘Skip.’
- When on the Discord home page, click the +-icon in the upper right corner
- Click ‘Join a server.’
- Enter the invite link: https://discord.gg/ZKyAzg9
- Click ‘Accept invite.’
- After clicking the ‘welcome’ channel, please read the information
- You are good to go. Enjoy it!
Overview of existing initiatives
A vast amount of initiatives intended for the period until we can fully make use of the Campus again are already up and running at the UT. The ones listed below are free and open for all UT students. If you know about other public initiatives, or if you set up one yourself, please let us know!
Are you despite the lock-down still into some workouts? Luckily, the UT sports center set up online courses to do at home! These online lessons include Tai Chi, BBB (Boring But Big), Zumba, Yoga, and Les Mills, and you can quickly join them by using your laptop or phone. Interested? Click this link! The association representing your study program most likely also organizes events, being it online. Examples of organized activities are game nights, crafting workshops, quizzes, and vrimibos. For an overview of all associations, click this link.
Studium Generale organizes lectures, debates, discussions, and stage programs about science, culture, society, and art. These events are primarily for students and staff of the UT. The plans until June are canceled. However, they selected a couple of their best videos. To watch them, click this link.
Enactus is a worldwide organization that works on societal challenges through entrepreneurship and innovation. Students set up projects to make a positive social impact. Enactus also has a chapter in Twente, which came up with a Discord platform, where you are free to join online games, chats, and other events.
