Introduction blog Jeroen Bos
The summer break is over and the UT is already in full activity after the opening of the academic year, including the Student Union. This summer four new board members have started and I am one of them! My name is Jeroen Bos and I am going to fulfill the External Relations & Entrepreneurship portfolio at the SU this year. In 2014 I moved from the beautiful city of Groenlo to Enschede to start my study International Business Administration. This because of the focus of the UT since this is more on technology as well as the great working atmosphere, that is why I decided to come to Enschede.
In recent years I have tried to get as much out of my student time as possible, that is why I did a lot of activities besides my studies. Think of teaching pre-master students in the field of statistics, student assistantship around International Partnerships & Development and for my minor I studied / lived in Australia for six months. I have learned a lot from all these experiences and this also characterized me as a person: do not be afraid, just do it.
This is also the reason I have my own investment advisory company since high school. This all started with investing with fake money on demo accounts, while a number of years ago this all resulted in the establishment of an official company. In this complex environment I have learned a lot and gained experience in dealing with external parties and entrepreneurship, which is why I think it is all the more fun that I can take on the External Relations and Entrepreneurship portfolio this year.
Right now, I have just completed my bachelor's degree in International Business Administration and I'm postponing my master for a year to be able to operate in the board of the SU, I am curious what this year will bring me all and I am looking forward to the coming months. I hope that in this position I can also enthuse others to become active next to their studies (in any form) because it is extremely important to develop yourself on all kinds of ways. With the portfolio I will be able to fulfill this year, I hope to make entrepreneurship better known to the student community so that a student with a problem of entrepreneurship knows where he or she can be helped. This is particularly important for 'The Most Entrepreneurial University' in my eyes.
This is just one of my personal goals, I would also like to contribute to the implementation of the Startup Hub in order to expand this into a thriving square focused on entrepreneurship, to set up a substantive collaboration with a health insurer and strengthen the Center for Entrepreneurship by increasing the awareness of entrepreneurship among students and improving facilities for student entrepreneurs. Besides all these ambitious goals, the most important thing for me is to really enjoy this year with my fellow board members and everybody I will meet this year.
