Campus app
Department: | M&C (Marketing and Communication) |
---|---|
Problem: | Newly developed campus app |
Description of the project: | What has been done so far: | |
---|---|---|
The Marketing and Communication department is developing a new campus app, which will play an important role in the community of the UT. M&C was looking for student input and therefore contacted the SIC to help them and be the bridge between student and department. | The app will be developed in January 2023. M&C is gathering input and SIC has gathered input through multiple ways by creating events (such as the think-in) and gathering needs as well as wants from students and communicating these with M&C. SIC also contacted primary users of the app such as cultural and sports associations. |
Think Tank, an event during the Summer Kick-In 22/23
Department: | Student Union/Kick-In Committee |
---|---|
Problem: | Raising awareness regarding student involvement |
Description of the project: | What has been done so far: | |
---|---|---|
During the Kick-In, SIC organised a think tank, containing four different real-life problem cases (of various topics from different departments in the UT) related to the University to put student involvement on the map. The event was organised for all new master students who will start their studies in September 2022/23. | The feedback that was delivered by the students ended up at the decision makers (or problem owners of the four cases provided). The given feedback will be considered during the decision-making process. Unfortunately, because these projects have a long-time span, it is difficult to pin-point what the impact and influence of the given feedback has. |
EEMCS (diversity team)
Department: | EEMCS (Faculty) and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) |
---|---|
Problem: | Create a central point within the faculty to discuss DE&I-related issues |
Description of the project: | What has been done so far: | |
---|---|---|
The faculty was starting a new diversity, equity and inclusion team and was looking for a student who was willing to join the team to give inputs on related DE&I topics, particularly from the EEMCS faculty. DE&I couldn’t find the right student and therefore contacted the SIC. The SIC managed the find a student. | Currently, the team is set up and is present to be the contact point for in the faculty for DE&I topics and to follow-up on ideas to improve DE&I within the faculty. On average the student is busy with this 1 day per month. |
Living Kitchen (commission on housing on campus)
Department: | CES (Centre for Educational Support) and DeVeste (Student Housing Corporation) and other stakeholders outside the university |
---|---|
Problem: | Unclear what the opinion of students is regarding housing on campus |
Description of the project: | What has been done so far: | |
---|---|---|
All the stakeholders met for an informal meeting in the form of a lunch. During this get-together, one of the agenda points was: what are the students’ need of tomorrow (for housing). And to answer this, there was a need for student input. SIC was requested to help, so we contacted different associations and individual students. Eventually leading to students who were willing to deliver input. | Student input is highly valued in this project, but since it a was an informal setting and because of the length of the project, it remains unclear what happened so far with the delivered input. What we can say is that on the long-term, student input will have impact because the input of students will be taken in account during the decision-making process. |
