Lessons on the Campuscarillon

PLAY THE CAMPUSCARILLON

Playing the carillon yourself? You can! The campus has a beautiful and exceptional bell tower with a carillon designed by none other than the famous Dutch architect Gerrit Rietveld.

When it opened in 1964, the University of Twente received this special gift from the municipalities in the Twente-East Gelderland region. Now, more than half a century later, this tower still stands.

The campus community can enjoy the enchanting sounds of 49 bells every day. Not only does automatic playing ensure that the campus carillon can be heard often; students, alumni and staff can also learn to play this typical instrument by hand. Faculty members also regularly climb the tower.

Currently, the Campus Carillon Circle has ten members. Would you like to join us? You will receive lessons at the bell tower, and a carillon studio in the Vrijhof building is available for study.

Note: These lessons are available to employees, alumni and students with a valid Union-/CampusCard.
