This is a message to all students at the University of Twente who are a member of a governing board of any of the more than one hundred student organisations.
In the period from mid-November until June we will offer a 15 EC minor that is aimed in particular at those students. If you participate, you will get together with students from other boards and the lecturer (that is me) in weekly meetings. These are often prepared by small practical tasks, such as giving an oral presentation, writing a memo, or holding an interview. The weekly meetings are on Wednesday or Friday afternoon and will be online as long as the measures of the Covid-19 pandemic prohibit on campus teaching in full.
The formal name of the board minor is “Governance of Student Organisations”. The themes to be discussed will include topics like governance, policy, and leadership, while academic and professional skills will also get ample attention (e.g. academic writing, critical thinking, presenting, negotiating). At present the formal accreditation procedure is still ongoing, but the plan is to get started with a pilot year this November. The attached outline provides more detailed information about the board minor.
If you are interested and would like to hear more about this minor, you are warmly invited to the Board Minor Info Session on Wednesday 11 November, 12.45-13.45 hours. This session will be held online via MS Teams and can be joined via the following link:
The first half our I will give a presentation, while next there will be room for questions.
I hope to see many of you then, and in any case wish you much success and joy in your role as board member this academic year.
