Portefeuillehouder Sport & Cultuur

Lars is verantwoordelijk voor de toekomst van alle sport- en cultuurvoorzieningen aan de Universiteit Twente. Samen met het Sportcentrum, het Vrijhof Culture & Events, Sports Umbrella Twente en Apollo probeert hij het hoge voorzieningenniveau van de universiteit te handhaven en waar mogelijk te verbeteren. Op deze manier draagt hij zorg voor een omgeving waarin studenten optimaal kunnen genieten van sport en cultuur, zowel in verenigingsverband als individueel!

Onder de portefeuille Sport & Cultuur vallen grote projecten zoals het realiseren van een nieuwe sporthal of fitnessruimte. Daarnaast is de portefeuillehouder verantwoordelijk voor de UnionCard en de samenwerking met ArtEZ. Er is veel contact met externe partijen, zoals de IJsbaan Twente, Aquadrome, Stadsschouwburg en Muziekcentrum Enschede om voordeel voor alle studenten te realiseren.

After completing my pre-university education (VWO) in Nijmegen, my attention was drawn to the Technical Medicine programme in Enschede. After several visits to the University of Twente during open days, I was convinced and decided to study and live here.

In my second year, I joined A.S.V. Taste, where I’ve been part of the yearclub Hermanos ever since. We still have dinner together and go to the pub every Tuesday. After joining A.S.V. Taste, I also started participating in various small committees.

In my third year, I became a member of Dispuut Thoridor, where you can find me every Wednesday and Thursday. That same year I joined my first larger committee, namely the TEDxTwenteU committee. I saw this as a great opportunity to be part of a committee focused on organising a professional event, from which I learned a great deal.

After completing my bachelor's degree, I wanted to take a gap year because I felt that my studies were progressing too quickly. Through fellow members of my dispuut, I got to know the Student Union (SU) and became increasingly enthusiastic. I realised that the level of professionalism, the opportunity to build a large network, and the chance to give back to students really appealed to me.
