Look after your friend trainings
Are you a board member of a Student Union related association? And do you want to improve the wellbeing of your members? Then sign-up for one of the ‘look after your friend’-trainings for your association!
Your time as a student can be the time of your life, but it can also be difficult sometimes. A lot of students who experience problems regarding their wellbeing, such as stress, depression or anxiety, first turn to their friends to talk about it before talking to anyone else. For a friend this can be difficult sometimes and such a situation might raise a lot of questions like:
- 'How can I help my friend without letting it affect myself too much?’
- 'How can I listen to someone in a way that makes them feel heard?’
- 'What does a certain diagnosis actually mean?’
To help students in answering these questions, a Look After Your Friend training has been set up by the psychologists of the UT in collaboration with the SU.
The training consists of 2 sessions of 1,5 hours. These are complementing and can therefore not be followed separately. During these two sessions, the following topics will be discussed:
- Practical tips on looking after your friend
- Supporting a friend through the student journey
- Understanding your friend’s diagnosis
- Knowing your services: getting professional help in- and outside of the UT
Next to this, participants will receive an extensive guide with information and tips on how to look after their friends and themselves.
How can you sign up?
As an association, you can sign-up for a training by filling the following form:
We will get in touch with you and determine a suitable date for the training. The sign-up works on a first come, first serve basis. As soon as a date is set, you can let your members know and they can sign up for the training. A maximum of 15 people can join the training and one person should attend both trainings (you cannot attend only one of them). To be able to give the training to as many people as possible, we expect a minimum amount of 10 attendees. The training is free of charge.
