The Department of communications of the Student Union is responsible for all internal and external communications of the organisation. The Department of Corporate Communication is responsible for the development and execution of the entire communication policy of the Student Union. The department is responsible for the brand awareness, i.e. monitoring the image and corporate branding of our Student Union, namely "More Than a Degree". Other tasks include advising the Student Union Board, and the community on communication strategy, policy and other communication issues.
The organisation of the Student Union is managed and run by students completely. As awesome as it sounds it has it challenges to ensure the continuity as the students change quite often. Internal Communications of the Student Union focuses on keeping the continuity in the organisation, keeping the Student Union Community up to date, standardising the operations, helping with the transition from leaving and new community member and help the community to execute their tasks effectively.
Student Organisations at UT together with the Student Union has numerous facilities and opportunities to the students of UT. The external communications focus on promotion and reach of all those facilities. The External communication wing develops corporate identity, campaigns and communication formats such as the annual plans/reports, strategic plans/reports and newsletters. Furthermore, the external communications are responsible for all the communications channels (like the LED screens, social media and website), recruitment of new SU community members and realisation of media, design and printed matter, audiovisual, of all the Student Union Brands (like Unioncards, UnionDeals etc) and events like CreateTomorrow, MTAD Awards, TedXTwenteU together with the development of corporate gifts.
