Portfolio holder Communication Internationalisation and Well-being

Communication

As portfolio holder Communication Justus works on all internal and external communication of the Student Union. The portfolio holder coordinates all communicational activities of the Student Union. Something you could think of is keeping the website up-to-date, using social media, sending out press notes about important Student Union events, and all PR materials.

Regarding policy, he sets a course on general communication and defines which message is communicated to the student. Concerning external communication, Justus has an advisory right that can influence the communication of the UT towards students.

In order to execute the tasks mentioned above, he is supported by the SU communication team.

Internationalisation

More and more international students are arriving at the University. These students need the same possibilities as Dutch students.

To ensure the interest of and create an ideal environment for the international students are heard Justus collaborates with the International Office, the UniTe board, the Buddy committee and the World Sector Officer. Furthermore, he attends the Platform International Affairs (PIA) meetings. Subjects that he is dealing with are integration, acculturation, inclusiveness and other activities.

Well-being

The Student Union has a desire to prevent well-being issues and improve the health of students. As portfolio holder Well-being, Justus organises and facilitates activities to fulfil this desire.

Justus works on well-being issues together with the University. He has a seat in the steering and project group Student Well-being Implementation Program (SWIP) and works together with her well-being team on several projects. Furthermore, he collaborates with CES-SACC student psychologists, M&C and others involved from several faculties of the University.

When I was in `1th grade, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to study. Eventually, through the UT website, my eye fell on Technical Industrial Engineering Management. After the student for a day, I was convinced: I am going to study Industrial Engineering Management. The university's accessible and personal atmosphere particularly appealed to me. I decided to dive into student life completely. At 17, I moved to Enschede and I already knew I wanted to join an association alongside my studies to get the most out of my student life! After a - despite corona - very successful Kick-In, my choice fell on A.S.V. Taste.

At Taste, I formed a yearclub with 10 guys. After a year I joined dispuut Thoridor, where I can be found every Wednesday and Thursday. I also did several committees, such as the first-year committee and the Kick-In committee. I really liked these committees and they only made me more enthusiastic to do more besides my studies. I also learned a lot from these committees in an approachable way. For example communication and collaboration skills, but also how to deal with disappointments and unexpected situations.

In my second year, I got excited about the Student Union through some sorority mates. At that time, I was already involved in committees and they told me about their own board year at the SU. The idea of doing a board year at the SU started to become more and more realistic in my head and that has never really gone away. My portfolio includes many topics that I will delve into this upcoming year. Think about the current internationalisation debate, for example. I am excited to learn more about these topics.
