In order to able to execute the tasks mentioned above, she is supported by the SU communication team.

More and more international students start studying in Enschede. These students need the same possibilities as Dutch students.

With the internationalisation portfolio Bregje, together with the International Office and UniTe has a leading role in creating an ideal environment for international students at the University of Twente. Subjects which she is dealing with are integration, acculturation, inclusiveness and other activities.

The Student Union has a desire to prevent wellbeing issues and improve the health of students . As portfolio holder Wellbeing, Bregje organises and facilitates activities to fufill this desire.

Bregje works on wellbeing issues together with the University. She has a seat in the steering and project group Student Wellbeing Implementation Plan (SWIP) and works from there on several projects. My name is Bregje and I will be working on  the portfolio for Communication, Internationalisation and Well-Being this year. Three years ago I decided to move from Brabant to come study International Business Administration here, because I fell in love with the beautiful campus of the University of Twente.

In the past years I have been a happy resident of one of the campus houses, and really enjoyed the diversity of roommates you live with in a student house. As freshman I became part of A.S.V. Taste and formed a yearclub, in which I got to know the city life of Enschede pretty well. Together with my room- study- or yearclubmates I still love to go for a walk, sport, eat, watch Spanish series, drink a glass of wine, or visit cute boutiques and cities.

During my studies I was active at several associations and had multiple jobs, as student assistant and as coordinator at Pre-U. I also took part in the Honours Programme to deepen my knowledge of Philosophy,  and participated in the program of the Thomas More Foundation in which I attended classes with a sociological topic. Last year, I got the opportunity to study for 6 weeks at Peking University, China, and afterwards for  6 months at the University of Bologna, Italy.  I love to learn about different cultures and are a great fan of trying out different languages. I am therefore looking forward to work on my portfolio Internationalisation this year.

What I want to achieve this year at the Student Union? Especially with the Corona measures, I find Well-Being very important. Loneliness is a big problem, also under students. Furthermore, I would like to be there for internationals, that despite all the Corona measures still decided to come to or stay at the University of Twente. I hope to improve both the Well-Being of students as well as the abroad experience of internationals. In addition, I would like to extent the visibility of the Student Union under students. Together we can achieve so much more!

Do you have nice ideas with regards to my portfolio? Or would you like to exchange some nice pasta recipes, have a talk in (slow) Italian, or know something about the Student Union? Please send me an e-mail or step by to drink a cup of tea or coffee with me (at 1,5 meters distance)!
