Dear student,
Last Thursday, the coalition agreement was presented by the national government. This agreement includes measures that could significantly impact students. The Student Union is shocked by the proposed measure to implement a long-study penalty.
The introduction of the long-study penalty would mean that every student has to pay a €3000 fine if they extend their study period. This penalty puts considerable financial pressure on students to graduate within the nominal term. Active students, in particular, will be hit hard. Doing a board year or committee work is discouraged, even though these extracurricular activities provide many valuable experiences and skills.
