Board Minor
Are you interested in doing a minor next to your board year? This board minor will be a great opportunity for students to personally develop themselves even more during a board year and it is also an excellent way to reflect upon and improve the governance of your organisation!
The board minor was developed by a very enthusiastic teacher, Martin Rosema. This minor gives you the possibility to learn more about the governance of organisations while simultaneously running your own student organisation as a board member. Topics to be discussed are governance, policy and leaderhip, but academic and professional skills will also get attention. You can find an overview of the content and set-up of this minor at the bottom of this page. The formal name of this 15EC minor is “Governance of Student Organisations”. This minor starts every year in the second quarter.
In the period from mid-November until June this minor if offered to students who do a board year, full-time or part-time. If you participate, you will get together in weekly meetings with students from other boards and the lecturer, Martin Rosema. These meetings are on Wednesday afternoon. You often have to be prepared with small practical tasks, such as giving an oral presentation, writing a memo, or holding an interview. Sometimes guests are invited for a talk.
Shortly before the start of the minor, an information sessions takes place for interested students. If you cannot make it to this meeting but are interested, please send an e-mail to m.rosema@utwente.nl. Martin made a recording of an online info session, so you can watch it in your own time.
To confirm if you are eligble to follow the minor, please contact your study advisor. If you have further questions or would like to sign up for this minor, please send an e-mail to Martin. Signing up for this minor can be done through its Canvas site, to which he can add you.
